Teej Festival Nepal

I traveled to Nepal for the Teej festival »in 2011 This festival is celebrated for marital bliss, well-being of spouse and children and purification of own body and soul. The festival is a three-day-long celebration that combines sumptuous feasts as well as rigid fasting. It is believed that the name of this festival comes from a small red insect called ‘Teej’ that emerges from the earth during the monsoon season. I had heard and read about it and wanted to be part of it ,to feel the energy, and as my eyes fell upon the sea of red ,women dressed up in the auspicious colour to pray…the concept took shape…right there… For this monochromatic series I wanted to portray the energy, the passion, the fervour ,the strength of RED
